Business booms for street vendors during NCAA Tournament

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- March Madness fans flooding downtown Milwaukee has been a welcome sight for street vendors -- who say business is booming as thousands make their way to and from the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

David Robertson says basketball fans have given his street stand an estimated 40% boost of business the last few days.

"Now that the tournament's in town I'd say it's been kind of steady. During the day time we're kind of okay, but night-time is when we really get our butts kicked. It gets swamped," said Robertson. "Just remember, the more you eat, the more you can drink!"

The Milwaukee Brat House pitched a stand near the area and had a record-setting day Thursday.

"Today's not quite a good but we're still trying, still pushing. Hopefully the late night business is really what takes us through," said Andrew Fronek, Milwaukee Brat House General Manager.

Workers say capitalizing on the night crowd makes for some long hours, but the business they see makes it all worth it.
