MILWAUKEE (WITI) — Milwaukee County Sheriff’s officials say a suspect is accused of striking a correctional officer inside the Milwaukee County Jail’s booking room. The correctional officer had to be taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

It happened Tuesday, March 25th around 7:00 a.m.

Sheriff’s officials say 22-year-old Deshazo Campbell of Milwaukee was brought into the jail on Tuesday morning on two counts of robbery/use of force.

As part of the booking process, all property is taken from the subject and inventoried.

Sheriff’s officials say Campbell had a decorative gold grill in his mouth and refused to remove it. Officers attempted to calm him down, when he threw several punches, striking a correctional officer in the face several times, according to Sheriff’s officials.

The correctional officer suffered a laceration above his eye, and cuts to his lip and hand.  He was taken to Froedtert Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Campbell, in addition to his original charge, now faces a charge of battery to a law enforcement officer — a Class H Felony which carries a sentence of up to six years in prison upon conviction.

Campbell’s criminal history includes seven arrests, the last just two weeks ago:

12/13/11: Arrested by Milwaukee Police Department for (MISD) operating after suspension/revocation.

This piece of trash should get the full six years. Look at the smirk on this low lifes mugshot. He is a menace to society, they should put him away and throw away the key!

    • T

Just 6 years? He’s 22, look at his extensive criminal record. He needs to be locked up longer than 6 years or he’s just going to be adding to his “resume” when he’s in his upper 20s

How was this piece of trash not already locked up….clearly a career criminal…attention DAs office and Judges, please throw the book at him for this and everything else on his rap sheet!

  • guess who

Your family has caused great harm to this society.. and he deserves to be locked up.. which in fact he should’ve been locked up a looooooooonnngg time ago!! I wonder if you’re going to be there for YOUR family while he’s away in prison? Meaning are you going to visit him often and keep his canteen full??

Lisa, your language is disgusting. Your family members behavior is also disgusting. Hopefully, a judge will send him away for a long, long time.

Bianca, it seems that Deshazo’s criminal history is so normal in your environment that you don’t realize that other people can justifiably consider him to be a career criminal. That is unfortunate, for you. However, for the safety of the rest of us, Deshazo needs to be locked away for a very long time.
