Mother, four children displaced by house fire in Racine

RACINE (WITI) -- Racine Fire officials say a mother and her four children are receiving temporary shelter via the American Red Cross after a fire on Tuesday, April 1st.

The fire broke out at a home in on West Street, just before 7:00 p.m.

Fire officials believe the fire was started by children playing with fire in an upstairs bedroom.

The fire was contained to the bedroom, and quickly extinguished.

The fire caused about $15,000 in damage.

Fire officials say this home had no working smoke detectors.
