Four could be charged in connection with Verizon robbery

HARTFORD (WITI) -- Hartford police say they have apprehended the individual responsible for the armed robbery of a Verizon Wireless store that occurred on Friday, April 4th. Police say charges are being referred against four individuals total -- for their role in the incident.

The incident occurred on Friday, April 4th, just before noon at the Verizon Wireless store on E. Sumner Street in Hartford.

Police say the store was robbed at gunpoint by a masked individual.

That individual was able to obtain over $16,000 in cell phones, various electronics and cash from the store.

Police say prior to the robbery, an occupied vehicle was seen repeatedly moving from parking spots in the front parking lot to parking spots in the back parking lot of the Verizon property.

Immediately following the robbery, police say the same vehicle was observed leaving the back parking lot at a high rate of speed.

A witness was able to obtain a license plate number for the vehicle.

The vehicle was located and stopped by Slinger police officers and Washington County Sheriff's deputies in the Village of Slinger within five minutes of the robbery.

Two people inside the vehicle -- a 19-year-old Milwaukee man, and a 21-year-old Milwaukee woman were taken into custody.

Police say, however, these two individuals did not appear to match the description of the actor in the armed robbery -- and none of the stolen merchandise was recovered from their vehicle.

The two were questioned, and police say they ultimately admitted to serving as "lookouts" for the individual responsible for the robbery.

Police say it was learned that the suspect had fled the scene in a second vehicle with the stolen property.

A 21-year-old Milwaukee man was taken into custody just before 3:30 a.m.

Police say they found him hiding in a residence in the 2400 block of W. Michigan Avenue in Milwaukee.

Police say the man admitted to robbing the Verizon store.

Police say felony charges of armed robbery, and charges of being a party to the crime of armed robbery are being referred against the three individuals allegedly involved in this case.

Police say a fourth suspect -- a 26-year-old Milwaukee woman could also be charged.

Charges have been referred to the Washington County District Attorney's Office.
