Teenager hurt, struck by vehicle in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- Mount Pleasant police say a 14-year-old was injured when he ran into traffic and was struck by a vehicle.

It happened on Monday, April 7th around 3:15 p.m.

Mount Pleasant police responded to the intersection of State Highway 31 (South Green Bay Road) and State Highway 20 (Washington Avenue).

Police say the teenager ran out into traffic trying to cross the roadway.

A witness told officers the teenager, based upon his actions, believed he could make it across -- and misjudged the speed of the vehicles.

Officials say the teenager was taken to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the striking vehicle was not at fault, according to police.
