Waukesha Memorial Hospital marks 100th anniversary

WAUKESHA CO. (WITI) -- A group of retirees marks the 100th anniversary of Waukesha Memorial Hospital -- and some of them have been with the hospital for more than half of that time.

93-year-old Vi Paulson started at Waukesha Memorial Hospital as a volunteer in the 1940s.

"During the second World War, they had aides at the hospital and I lived in the next block. And my neighbor ladies were nurses aides and they talked me into doing going over and going through the classes which I did," said Paulson.

Paulson never left -- spending 50 years on staff. She's retired now, but still meets for breakfast each month with other retired hospital workers. They usually meet at a local restaurant. But this month, the hospital invited them over to help celebrate the hospital's anniversary.

For Paulson, working at the hospital was a family affair.

"All my kids worked here," said Paulson.

Paulson's oldest daughter is also a nurse.
