Father of man convicted in OWI homicide arrested for his 5th OWI

VILLAGE OF KEWASKUM (WITI) -- FOX6 News has learned the father of a man convicted in a fatal crash that involved drunken driving that occurred on Christmas Eve in 2012 has been arrested for suspicious of drug-related OWI.

Kewaskum police on Thursday, April 3rd responded to a two-vehicle accident on Fond du Lac Ave/Highway 45 near Prospect Drive in the Village of Kewaskum that occurred just after 3:00 p.m.

Both vehicles were headed southbound on Fond du Lac Avenue when the vehicle being operated by Keith Wiedmeyer rear-ended a vehicle being operated by a female driver, according to police.

Police say the female driver told them her vehicle was struck twice by Wiedmeyer's.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries suffered in the incident.

Police searched Wiedmeyer's vehicle and detected the odor of marijuana. Police say marijuana was discovered inside the vehicle.

Wiedmeyer was arrested for suspicion of drug-related OWI. Charges have been referred to the Washington County District Attorney's Office -- for fifth OWI, operating after revocation, and possession of marijuana.

Wiedmeyer's son (also named Keith Wiedmeyer) was convicted in a 2012 homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle case.

He was sentenced to 20 years in prison -- a sentence that began on December 9th, 2013, and 10 years of extended supervision.

He pleaded guilty in the case.
