Gov. Walker to keep his hat in the ring, start re-election campaign

MADISON (AP) — Gov. Scott Walker plans to officially launch his re-election campaign with a series of events across the state on Tuesday.

Walker has been inviting his supporters to attend the events, which begin early Tuesday morning in Dane near Madison and end Tuesday night at State Fair Park. He will be joined by Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch.

Walker's campaign spokeswoman did not immediately return a message seeking more details.

Walker is being challenged by Democrat Mary Burke, a former state commerce secretary and Trek Bicycle Corp. executive.

Walker was first elected in 2010 and then defeated a recall attempt in 2012. He is also considering running for president in 2016.
