21-year-old man arrested after Beatrice stolen, found burned

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Milwaukee Police Department says the individual they believe is responsible for stealing five-year-old mixed-breed dog Beatrice from her yard on W. Wells Street on March 13th and then burning her is a 21-year-old man who is in custody on unrelated charges.

Charges in the case involving Beatrice are being referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.

Police believe this 21-year-old man is responsible for stealing Beatrice, and then abusing her by burning her.

Beatrice suffered burns over 90% of her body.

The 21-year-old man is in custody at the Waukesha County Jail on unrelated charges.

Last week, FOX6 News learned Beatrice had been readmitted to the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals, where the was in the ICU -- after she became dehydrated and exhausted.

There, she was receiving IV fluids and antibiotics.

We also learned last week of a $2,000 reward being offered in this case.

The reward is being offered by Animal Fairy Charities — which is accepting donations on Beatrice’s behalf.
