Man caught on video tripping students who rushed field...and he is a what?

(CNN) -- A Texas soccer match is making national headlines -- and some students and a police officer could face consequences.

School officials in Austin are deciding whether to punish students who rushed the field after the Vandegrift High School girls soccer team won the state title.

As the students rush the field -- a man is seen apparently tripping and pushing some students...

And he happens to be a police officer.

The officer is now on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.

A school district spokeswoman says she couldn't say specifically what punishment, if any, could be dished out to students who ran onto the field.

She said this is a first for the Leander Independent School District -- and there is nothing written in the school's Code of Conduct.
