FREE: Packers offer youth football coaching school

GREEN BAY (WITI) -- The Green Bay Packers will host a free youth football coaching school on Saturday, June 8, in the Legends Club at Lambeau Field.

The complimentary coaching school, funded exclusively by the Packers, will feature classroom sessions in the Legends Club of the Lambeau Field Atrium and football drills in the Don Hutson Center. The curriculum is designed exclusively for coaches of youth football teams and offers the opportunity to sharpen skills and learn new approaches to teaching football.

The one-day event can accommodate a maximum of 300 youth football coaches, and offers innovative classroom and on-the-field football instruction from top local high school and youth football coaches. Attendees can expect to learn teaching techniques to ensure that their students have fun playing the game while developing their character through football’s fundamental values of teamwork, responsibility and discipline.

Youth football coaches are taught best communication practices toward players, parents and officials, with the intent to foster positive experiences for all involved with the sport. All registered participants will receive a free t-shirt, complimentary lunch and will be treated to an address by Packers assistant strength and conditioning coach Thadeus Jackson.

Youth football organizations that register four or more coaches with one hundred percent attendance on the day of the event will be entered into a drawing to receive one of three $500 grants from the Packers. A $500 Riddell equipment grant will also be awarded, compliments of USA Football.

The deadline to register is June 2, or when a maximum capacity of 300 coaches has been reached. Only registered coaches will be granted admittance to the event. Online registration is available at www.packers.com/youthfootball by selecting “Green Bay Packers Coaching School.”
