Man pulls a "Houdini!" How did he escape from police with handcuffs on?

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- How did a man escape from police after his hands were placed behind his back, and handcuffs were placed on him? He was eventually located -- but it took police two days to find him!

On Monday, April 28th, an argument between a boyfriend and a girlfriend in the neighborhood of 44th and Hope drew concern -- and the focus of law enforcement.

"She called police and warned them that he had a gun I guess," a relative of the suspect said.

The relative of the suspect asked that his identity be protected.

He is a relative of 22-year-old Adrian Morgan.

"He was found in the basement, and a weapon was on him," Morgan's relative said.

Court documents show a loaded .9 millimeter semi-automatic gun was recovered -- but the same couldn't be said about Morgan -- at least not initially.

"He was cuffed like this -- like hands behind his back, you know, the normal cuffing position. I heard the police officer say something and then I heard a big 'boom' -- like not a gunshot -- like someone falling or getting knocked over and that's when he came up -- darting out the house," Morgan's relative said.

Morgan was convicted of a misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon charge last year.

"He must have panicked -- got scared," Morgan's relative said.

Morgan managed to escape the basement -- running through two doorways and away from police.

He vanished for about two days.

"This has to be some magician -- some magic. You know, it's crazy how it happened. It's unbelievable because with your hands tied behind your back, it's really hard to run. You're running, you're wobbling like a penguin almost," Morgan's relative said.

Police eventually located Morgan last Wednesday, April 30th -- about four miles from where he disappeared.

Court documents say Morgan told police: "I never should have run from you all the other day."

"He shouldn't' have ran because now he's in more trouble," Morgan's relative said.

Separate from this, Morgan is charged with forgery. He is accused of trying to cash a fake $100 bill at a Target store in Franklin.
