What led driver to lose ability to steer, causing two-vehicle crash on 41/45 SB?

GERMANTOWN (WITI) -- Germantown police say a box that fell off a truck on U.S. 41/45 SB north of County Line Road on Wednesday evening, May 7th led to a crash.

It happened around 5:15 p.m.

Police say two vehicles were involved.

Police say their preliminary investigation indicates a box fell from a truck headed southbound, and landed in the right lane of traffic.

A vehicle heading southbound drove over the box, and it became lodged under the vehicle.

The driver lost the ability to steer -- and went off the road left into the center median.

The driver was the only occupant of the car, and wasn't injured.

Police say the vehicle struck another vehicle before coming to rest in the median.

The second vehicle rolled multiple times and came to rest on the right shoulder of the highway.

A 35-year-old woman was the only occupant of this vehicle.

She was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries -- but is expected to survive.
