Life in prison: Sentence for man who murdered Peter Holzberger

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Milwaukee County judge sentenced Nicholas Retzlaff on Thursday, May 8th to life in prison. This, for his role in the murder of 65-year-old Peter Holzberger in Glendale.

The judge indicated Retzlaff will be eligible for release and extended supervision after 45 years served in prison.

Prosecutors say Retzlaff and Robert Christophel went to Holzberger’s home on November 5th with the intention of robbing him. According to a criminal complaint, Christophel found Herzberger outside, choked him and broke his neck.

Investigators say the suspects then moved Holzberger inside his home, wrapping bungee cords around his neck. After he died, the two allegedly hid the man’s body in his basement.

Retzlaff pleaded guilty to the charges against him in March.
