Miracle drug? Cannabis oil helps little girl who suffered nearly deadly seizures

OKLAHOMA (WITI) -- They didn't know where else to turn.

A little girl from Oklahoma was having 300 seizures a day!

According to FOX6's sister station, KFOR in Oklahoma City, Zoey Johnson would often stop breathing during her seizures -- and she nearly died dozens of times.

Her family has now found hope through a drug considered illegal in most states.

Zoey Johnson suffers from Dravet's Syndrome -- a seizure disorder. Her family learned of the diagnosis with Zoey was just three months old.

The seizures seemingly never stopped.

At one time, Zoey Johnson was on 24 medications a day -- and one of them was only approved for veterinary use!

Then, Zoey's family reached a point where there were no more medications to try.

The family's last hope was cannabis oil.

"They gave her a few drops it seemed like -- and the seizures stopped within 15 minutes!" Zoey's mother, Mallory Johnson told KFOR.

Zoey Johnson has never smoked marijuana and her family says she never will.

The cannabis oil is taken orally.

Zoey Johnson takes less than a teaspoon, but her family says the results are incredible.
