Necropsy rules out foul play after pit bull found dead near Waukesha's Frame Park

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- HAWS, the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County, has received the results of the necropsy on a dog found dead near Frame Park in April. It is now believed the dog was hit by a train.

HAWS’ Animal Rescue Team was called to assist when a deceased female pit bull was discovered next to the busy railroad tracks adjacent to Waukesha’s Frame Park.

Local citizens speculated on social media that the dog had been abused, dying as a result.

According to the pathology report, foul play has been ruled out, as no evidence of bullet or stab wounds or burn trauma were found on the dog.

The exact cause of the dog’s injuries is unknown, but they are consistent with those that would be sustained as the result of the dog being hit by a passing train.

The dog was found to be in good nutritional condition, even described as robust.

“We are thankful that community members cared enough to get involved,” noted HAWS Executive Director Lynn Olenik. “Unfortunately, an owner still has not come forward. The tragic part of this situation is the dog most likely died alone, without the comfort of her family.”
