(CNN) — An Ohio teacher was caught on camera grabbing a student in an apparent fit of anger. The student’s parents are outraged.

Anthony and Autumn Nelson are still stunned by what happened to their 6-year-old son Ian.

In the video, the kindergarten student is seen walking down the hallway to go the bathroom. The surveillance camera then shows his teacher, Barb Williams, confront him as he steps out of the bathroom.

The teacher is then seen grabbing Ian and pinning him up against the wall. She then grabs his face — but it doesn’t end there. She then picks him up by his shirt and his head flops back.

The Nelsons say Ian had a bruise to the back of his head.

A letter sent from Riverdale superintendent Eric Hoffman informed Barb Williams that she was suspended for ten days without pay.

The superintendent wrote,  “your repeated use of physical force was completely unwarranted and unprofessional.”

Ian has been moved to a different kindergarten class at the school and seems to be happier.

This isn’t right! She should be fired and arrested! What reasons does this teacher have to put her hands on a child! As a teacher you should have a long period of patience.

I agree that this teacher should be criminally charged and fired. There is absolutely no excuse for her to put her hands on this child. She is a bully.

In 3rd grade I had a teacher say open your hand & then hit it with a 12 in. ruler. In 7th a teacher hit me with his fist on my shoulder 4 looking out the window. That’s what happens when U don’t mine.

Who are u to call this child a spoiled TWIRP!! Do u know him do u know what happened in that class room?? Bet not!! Its highly unprofessional and the woman should be fired and thrown in jail!!!

Because she’s union! She won’t be fired. She’ll be “reassigned” and still collect her salary while she sits on her fat butt.

Trip – when you know the facts, then you can participate. Until then, stop using your microwave with the door open.

She should have been charged criminally and then fired. Yet another example of how adults put the best interest of other adults above children.

even if he did leave with out permission to use the rest room it does not warrant what she did. I have 5 grown children and 3 of them, when younger, had to call me at home because they had an accident in school because the teacher would not them use the restroom. Restroom use is not a privilege its a need. I see your comment as useless and a waste of time.

Forget that she needs to be fired that’s child abuse regardless of what happened prior if as a kindergarten we especially he needs to use the restroom she can’t deny him it causes health issues to hold it in for periods of time 10 days suspension is not enough

So a teacher can do this and get away with a simple 10 day suspension, but a PARENT caught on camera doing something like this to their child would have DHS beating their door down. I am not defending physical abuse in any manner, but how is a mere suspension enough? The way she was manhandling him though? I bet this probably wasn’t the first time this has happened.

That’s what you get when you hire union teachers. Don’t worry, she’ll be “promoted” or “reassigned” and we’ll still be paying her salary.

Did anyone see, The superintendent wrote, “your repeated use of physical force was completely unwarranted and unprofessional.” So, she has done this before?? Union or not, why is the board not stepping in on all this? Or why have charges not been pressed before? And how in the world does this lady still have her license to teach? I hope the parents of this child press this issue. It is uncalled for that we pay to have these teachers “teach” our children, that includes teaching them manners, right from wrong, and socializing them with others. NOT manhandling them.

I am a teacher’s assistant myself and I been through alot with the type of kids i work with which is EBD which stands for emotionally behaved disorder. And i will admit kids do put you to the test and they do make you want to do certain things. I will also say its not right to put your hands on a child of that age. the reason i say of that age is because the age group that i work with is much much bigger which is middle school. SO with that being said if one of them put their hands on me I have every right to defend myself, I look at it this way its gonna be either them or me and its not going to be me period. I will also say kids leave my classroom all the time without permission but there’s noway i’m going to jacked them up because they left’ so its not right, and she needs to be fired because she will do it to some other kids.
