WOW!!! Mama and her elephant SWAT Team enact incredible rescue of baby in distress

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Elephants are very protective of their offspring, and the video you'll see below is proof of that.

The video, captured by Sandy Gelderman, a guest at Kicheche Laikipia -- a small camp in Kenya, Africa and posted to YouTube -- was filmed on one of Gelderman's safaris in the Ol Pejeta Conservancy -- a not-for-profit wildlife conservancy -- and East Africa's largest black rhino sanctuary.

The video shows an elephant herd approaching the rain-swollen Ewaso Nyiro River.

With the river deep, mountain high banks are never easy for adult elephants -- let alone a six-month-old calf!

The baby elephant was nearly washed away by the river's current.

That's when the baby elephant's mother and her emergency "Elephant SWAT Team" enacted a remarkable rescue!

Once baby is safely out of the raging water -- the elephant herd continues on its way -- as if nothing potentially tragic even happened.
