YIKES! Officials chase unmanned, runaway horse and buggy

DARLINGTON (WITI) -- Officials in Darlington, Wisconsin had to chase after an unmanned horse and buggy on Wednesday, May 14th! Eventually, the horse and buggy were stopped -- but not before causing damage to an officer's patrol vehicle and five others!

It happened around 10:30 a.m. -- when the unmanned horse and buggy were observed headed northbound on Galena Street.

The horse and buggy crossed the Main Street bridge -- and continued northbound into the downtown business district.

The horse was ultimately captured by the officer in a parking lot adjacent to Main Street.

After colliding with and causing damage to the officer's patrol car and five other cars, the buggy overturned -- spilling its contents of gasoline and paint in the parking lot.

An investigating into this incident revealed the horse was tied up about a mile south of the parking lot where it was stopped -- by its owner, 31-year-old Elam Allgyer of Darlington.

It is believed something spooked the horse -- and it was able to free itself.

No one was injured, including the horse.
