Report: The Rock wants to build minor league stadium near airport

OAK CREEK (WITI) -- The Milwaukee Business Journal says Oak Creek’s Common Council on Tuesday will consider a request for public money to help build a Frontier League Baseball Stadium proposed by The Rock Sports Complex CEO Mike Zimmerman.

It is the first time the stadium project has resurfaced since Franklin officials on April 22 rejected Zimmerman’s request for city financing. Zimmerman has secured rights to a Milwaukee-area Frontier League team, and is trying to start construction on a baseball stadium soon so it can open for the 2015 season.

Zimmerman now is working with Cobalt Partners LLC, Milwaukee, to build on a 62-acre property at the southwest corner of East College and South Pennsylvania avenues in Oak Creek. The U.S. Postal Service owns the property, and has been working with Cobalt to develop it.
