MADISON (AP) — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mary Burke has voted to negotiate new union contracts for Madison school district teachers.

Burke voted along with every other member of the Madison school board to allow negotiations with the teachers union to extend the contract through the 2015 academic year.

Gov. Scott Walker’s 2011 law effectively ended most collective bargaining for public school teachers. But the Madison teachers union signed contracts while legal fights over the law continue.

No one spoke against extending the contract during a public meeting Thursday.

Attorney Rick Esenberg with the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty warned in a statement that extending the contract is “almost certainly illegal” and would likely be challenged in court.

“almost certainly illegal” That’s the common thread with many things liberals do, but yet it doesn’t stop them from doing them. Go ahead, Madison will always lean heavily liberal, but the rest of the state doesn’t have their heads up there rear-ends and won’t view this favorably come November.

On a related noted, they (libs) are still pursuing the John Doe case even though a federal court already ruled that nothing they are investigating was illegal, as ruled by that very same court four years ago!

      Cynic,

Although the John Doe investigation is COMPLETELY unrelated to to the content of this story, I will bite and ask you one question: How is the investigation a liberal pursuit exactly?

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm You are kidding right? Chsiholm et al are clearky on a mission. I have a very close personal friend who still is ranting about the Walker John Doe while in the same breath gives me a hard time that the Republicans are still obsessed with Bengazi and it was “a long time ago.” Really?

Chisolm and his lackey Landgraf are both Democrats who have all but admitted that their endgame is to take down Scott Walker. They aren’t concerned that is was Walker who called for the investigations, and they aren’t concerned that a District Court judge ruled twice against the probe, and the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals will likely rule against it based on their own prior ruling that the activities that are being investigated aren’t illegal.

Yet they keep pressing forward. So yes, with all the evidence and current rulings, this is now a liberal vendetta on Scott Walker.

Quite a bold move by Mary Burke. She’s locked up the union vote. However, this will be the issue in the upcoming govenor’s election and will ultimately cause her to lose. Going backwards is not a popular option for many!
