Gunfire erupts on Milwaukee's north side, one man dead

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened overnight on the city's north side.

"He was a real good dude he didn't deserve that," said Dreacy Armstrong, friend of the victim. "Tyson was a good dude he just knew everybody around the neighborhood he talked to everybody, he was a happy dude."

As he lays a miniature teddy bear on the ground, Armstrong and his girlfriend reminisce about their friend, affectionately known as Tyson.

"I just talked to him yesterday took my breath away that he is gone ," said Armstrong.

A face known by many, even blocks away.

"That was somebody I knew it's just random and frustrating to know, one day you are here, the next day you are gone," said Michael Gooden, victim's friend.

Police say the 34-year-old victim was shot in the 2800 block of Lisbon Avenue after getting into a dispute with someone he knew. Early Saturday morning, May 17th the investigation continued as police responded to a nearby home at 32nd and Vine.

"I was sleeping then I woke up and they were like they are busting down the house next door. We just seen police cars and armored trucks," said Minassa Phillips, neighbor.

Authorities were being tight-lipped about who was taken into custody. Meanwhile, neighbors grow more uneasy about violence which is hitting too close to come.

"It's dangerous for me and my kids, my whole family, just anybody walking down the street, you never know what might happen," said Phillips.

But Gooden says all too often arguments are not solved correctly.

"It just needs to stop people need to talk out their problems, it doesn't make anybody suffer," said Gooden.

While he hopes for change in the future, others pray for closure now.

"I hope they get the person who did it. Find justice, everybody deserves justice," said Armstrong.

Authorities have not officially identified the victim. Police do have a suspect in custody and continue to investigate.
