Woman makes graduation bomb threat to hide drop-out

HAMDEN, Connecticut -- A former Quinnipiac University student was arrested in her cap and gown on Sunday after she allegedly called in several bomb threats before a graduation ceremony.

According to WVIT, 22-year-old Danielle Shea, who had dropped out of school but still collected thousands in tuition money from her mom, phoned in two bomb threats in an effort to cancel the graduation ceremony.

WVIT reports that Shea phoned in the threats after she realized her family would not see her name on the graduation roster.

Shea allegedly called Quinnipiac University’s Public Safety and stated that there was a “bomb in the library.” She called 17 minutes later saying “several bombs are on campus. You haven’t cleared out graduation. That’s not a good idea.”

A search by police didn't turn up any evidence of a bomb.

University records helped police trace the telephone number back to Shea. Shortly thereafter, authorities found Shea inside the school’s sports arena dressed in her cap and gown.
