MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- Mount Pleasant police say two people were injured in a car vs. motorcycle crash that occurred on Tuesday evening, May 20th.

It happened just after 5:00 p.m. in the area of State Highway 11/Durand Avenue and the East Frontage Road of I-94 in the Village of Mount Pleasant.

Police say the crash involved a 2012 Honda Civic Coupe and a 2007 Suzuki VZ800.

The motorcycle's operator was taken to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

The other driver told police she pulled out onto Durand Avenue southbound from the East Frontage Road.

She made a statement to police that the motorcycle "appeared out of nowhere."

Based on witness accounts, police say the driver of the vehicle failed to yield at a stop sign and this led to the crash.

Police say the driver of the Honda suffered an injury when her face collided with a deployed airbag.

She was checked out at the scene, but refused treatment.
