Report after fatal crash: Couple's BAC roughly 3 times legal limit

WASHINGTON CO. (WITI) -- A report released by the Washington County Sheriff's Office indicates Josh and Monica Griebel each had a blood alcohol content roughly three times the legal limit for driving (.08 BAC) when they crashed their car on Friday, April 25th.

One of the Griebels has a BAC of .25 -- the other, .228.

Investigators say the Griebels were in a car that crossed the center line, entered a ditch, hit a culvert, went airborne, and slammed into a utility pole. A memorial now sits at the base of a utility pole on Highway 164 in the Village of Richfield -- where the wreck happened.

The couple leaves behind five children — ranging in age from 17 months to 13 years. A fundraiser to benefit the Griebel children is being held at Sterling Chalet in Hubertus on Saturday, May 31st. CLICK HERE to learn more about that benefit.
