Weekend travel? Here's what you need to know about I-43 north

OZAUKEE CO. (WITI) -- If you're traveling a stretch of I-43 north, you should plan accordingly and expect some traffic delays.

Michael Pyritz is with Wisconsin's Department of Transportation. He explains the department will not be able to open both lanes of I-43 north, as the interstate approaches the bridge over county highway L-L.

If you're traveling this stretch of I-43 expect a bottleneck, as traffic tried to squeeze into the right lane, between North Woods Road and Lake Drive, or you can access an alternate route.

"We have a detour route that will take you from I-43, at Highway 57. You will take that north, to Wisconsin, or Highway 23, and then head east, there, to re-join I-43," said Pyritz.

Pyritz says delays should ease-up, as volumes diminish, late Friday evening.
