Construction crew strikes underground cable, causes power outage

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Brian Manthey with We Energies tells FOX6 News that approximately 300 customers lost power Thursday morning, June 5th after a construction crew struck an underground cable.

The incident occurred around 8:20 a.m. and knocked out power to hundreds of customers -- including Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Children’s Hospital, The Blood Center of Wisconsin, and Medical College of Wisconsin.

Manthey said he suspected the medical facilities have back-up generators/systems that would continue to supply power for their facilities.

A We Energies crew responded to the scene -- and all electrical systems were back up and running around 10 a.m.
