Officer pulls over driver after gas drive-off...and finds woman in the trunk!

MANITOWOC (AP) — A police officer who pulled over a driver for failing to pay at a gas station in Manitowoc made a bonus arrest.

The officer spotted the drive-off suspect on an Interstate 43 ramp early Thursday.

Lt. Craig Jansen says after the officer pulled the driver over, the man consented to a vehicle search.

When the officer opened the vehicle's trunk he found a 19-year-old female fugitive inside.

Jansen says they had been looking for the woman on an arrest warrant for months.

He says she apparently returned to Manitowoc to pick up her brother.
