Bicycle officers arrest armed robbery suspect, second suspect sought

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee Police officers who were on patrol on their bicycles in District Three arrested an armed robbery suspect.

The officers, assigned to Operation School’s Out, were on their bicycles near 44th and Clarke just after 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 12th. That's when they were flagged down by a contractor, a 41-year-old man, who told them he was the victim of an armed robbery. Two suspects pointed a gun at him and demanded his belongings. The suspects stole his pants, wallet, and a cell phone and fled.

One of the suspects was seen placing some of the victim’s property in a car a couple of blocks away. The vehicle then left the scene and that suspect fled on foot again. Officers arrested him near 45th and Center. The vehicle was found near N. 47th Street and W. Hadley Street a short time later with property belonging to the victim found inside.

Milwaukee Police are still seeking a second suspect.

17-year-old Victeur Bingham Jr. of Milwaukee was charged with one count of armed robbery as a party to a crime -- and could be sentenced to up to 40 years in prison if convicted.
