High speed chase leads to airborne car, chasing officer ends up a hero

KENOSHA (WITI) -- A car going around 100 miles per hour sped past a Kenosha Sheriff squad car Saturday morning, June 21st on Sheridan Road.

Officials say the parked squad radioed another officer, who then pursued the car down 12th street. The car crashed into a curb on Alford Drive causing it to go airborne.

The car then struck a utility pole, and officials say it immediately burst into flames. The deputy ended up pulling a 39-year-old unconscious man from the car.

Officials say the man was sent to the hospital where he was treated and then released. The man had non-life threatening injuries.

The man was then arrested and is back in custody for a DUI.

Officials say three Kenosha deputies responded the incident, none of them sustained injuries. There are no other details available at this time.
