99-year-old man proves age is just a number, undergoes surgery to live life-long dream

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- A man, just shy of his 100th birthday, is getting himself into shape for a trip of a lifetime.

Jerry Kroh is in physical therapy for a recent knee replacement, but the surgery isn't slowing him down -- in any aspect of his life. And the fact that he's 99 years old doesn't make one bit of a difference.

"I don`t feel much different than I have for the last 25 years or so. And I get around and do my thing," said Kroh.

That's an understatement. Jerry has always loved to travel.

"I've been to so many places," said Kroh.

But there's one place he's never been -- Alaska. So that's where he's headed in September.

"I just want to see it. I had a life dream of going up there," said Kroh.

And that's why he's in physical therapy, going through the temporary pain of surgery and therapy.

It's no surprise not everyone believes Jerry when he tells them he'll be 100 soon, proving age really is just a number.

"They can`t believe. Because I don`t look my age. I don`t know how I did that. It's quite a ride," said Kroh.

Jerry celebrates his 100th birthday next May. In addition to the Alaska trip, he says he also wants to get back on the golf course soon.
