Latest loss hard to digest, Brewers fall 9-1

MILWAUKEE -- Manager Ron Roenicke said that the final score of Thursday afternoon's Brewers loss to the Phillies was ridiculous, and he wasn't finding any argument.  Milwaukee not only blew a 1-0 eighth inning advantage, but wound up falling, 9-1.  It was the ninth loss in the last ten games for the Brewers, who still lead the NL Central division by two games over the Cardinals, who are in Milwaukee for three games starting Friday night.

Brewers righthander Matt Garza did not allow a hit through six innings, and left with his team up 1-nothing in the 8th.  However, the bullpen struggled mightily and the Phils scored 7 runs in the frame.  That pitching meltdown, coupled with a limp lineup that produced only 4 hits, meant more frustration for the home team.

Early Thursday evening, Milwaukee called up pitching prospect Jimmy Nelson from Triple A Nashville.  He goes into the starting rotation, beginning Saturday. Marco Estrada is moving to the bullpen. Reliever Wei-Chung Wang goes to the disabled list with a tight shoulder to free up a roster spot for Nelson.
