American Red Cross assisting 14 people after two fires Saturday night/early Sunday morning
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The American Red Cross says it assisted 14 people on Saturday night alone after two separate fires broke out. 10 of those 14 people were displaced.
The first fire occurred in the 2300 block of S. 16th Street.
Milwaukee police tell FOX6 News this was a relatively small fire -- and no one was injured.
Police estimate damages to be around $10,000.
Police tell FOX6 News no one was home at the time of the fire.
Fire officials tell FOX6 News the call for this fire came in just after 9:30 p.m.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The American Red Cross was said to be assisting two families (six people total).
"The number one thing we want to do after a fire is get a family into a nice, safe environment. They need rest. They need a little food in their stomachs. They've been through a terrible trauma. The best way is to get them to a comfortable location," Patty Flowers, Regional CEO with the American Red Cross told FOX6 News.

The second fire occurred early Sunday morning, July 27th.
Milwaukee police say this was a very small fire -- and tell FOX6 News piles of clothes were burning.
It happened in the 1400 block of N. 22nd Street.
The call for this fire came in around 3:45 a.m.
It is believed the cause of this fire is electrical.
No one was injured.
Police tell FOX6 News people were home at the time of the fire -- but they were able to get themselves out of the home before officials arrived on scene.
The American Red Cross was said to be assisting four adults and two children.
Police estimated the damage from this fire to be around $32,000.
This weekend, Red Cross officials housed displaced folks in residence halls at UW-Milwaukee. That's because they say all the hotels were booked up.
