"Hopefully my time will come:" Randall Cobb responds after Jordy Nelson granted contract extension
GREEN BAY (WITI) -- It's only human nature. If your co-worker gets a nice raise, you can't help by wonder "when do I get mine?" You can't blame Green Bay Packers wide receiver Randall Cobb for being happy for Jordy Nelson one minute, but wondering what's in store for him the next. This, as Packers Training Camp continues.
The Packers went through this off-season with questions about two key wide receivers. Would Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb come back after this season? Both had contracts coming up.
The Packers have worked out an extension for Nelson -- officially going into place on the first day of Training Camp. He was asked about Cobb after practice.
"You'll have to ask him," Nelson said.
"It is a business, but for me, I think the most important thing is to go out every day and just prove myself and the time will come. If it's meant to be, if it's supposed to be, if I'm supposed to get an extension, if I'm meant to get an extension, it'll come whenever it's supposed to. I can't worry about that. I got to control what I can control and that's my work ethic. That's the way I go about my business, and going out and doing what I'm supposed to do," Cobb said.
Randall Cobb is 23 years old, Jordy Nelson 29, and Cobb plays a tough style of football over the middle. He doesn't intend to change -- even not knowing where his future will be.
"I think my job is just to come out here every day and do what I'm supposed to -- continue to work hard and, you know, hopefully my time will come," Cobb said.
