Newspaper carrier alerts firefighters to fire in vacant home in Racine Tuesday morning

RACINE (WITI) -- Racine officials are investigating a house fire that occurred early Tuesday morning, July 29th on Racine's north side.

According to officials, a newspaper carrier reported the fire just before 3 a.m. in a vacant, two family home near Goold and North Wisconsin Street.

When crews arrived on scene, they found fire on the second floor and in the attic of the home.

Officials say it took about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control.

No injuries were reported.

Crews remained on scene until 10 a.m. to check for hot spots and to assist in the investigation.

The cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.

The loss from this fire is estimated to be around $65,000.
