Sweet treat! Lucky FOX6 News viewers pick up their free cream puffs

WEST ALLIS (WITI) -- FOX6 News hosted the 15th annual Wisconsin State Fair Cream Puff Giveaway -- and it was a sweet deal for hundreds of lucky FOX6 News viewers. 600 winners picked up their free six-packs of cream puffs just outside of the fair grounds on Tuesday, July 29th.

David Schmidt is the CEO of the Wisconsin Bakers Association which has produced the cream puffs for the state fair since 1924. The association has also hosted the giveaway for 15 years.

"It's our heritage. It's what drives our organization, each and every year, to be out here. And, we're really proud to have just a small piece fo the Wisconsin State Fair to be a part of," said Schmidt.

Kathleen O'Leary of the Wisconsin State Fair describes the Dairy State dessert as a fair favorite.

"We'll hopefully sell upwards of 380,000 cream puffs, over the course of the 11 days that we're open. It's amazing! And they are the true, dairy delicacy, and they're delicious!" said O'Leary.
