Crews worked hard: Closed since April, I-94 West exit ramp at WIS 20 reopens...early!

RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) reopened the I-94 West (Northbound) exit ramp at WIS 20 in Racine County early Wednesday morning, July 30th.

The ramp had been closed since April as crews were rebuilding a portion of the ramp as part of the WIS 20 Interchange Reconstruction project. WisDOT had scheduled reopening the ramp on July 31st but crews worked hard all weekend to reopen a day early.

The WIS 20 entrance ramp to I-94 West (NB) has also been closed since April. That is scheduled to reopen in early August.

WIS 20 is considered the “Gateway to Racine” as it links to the city’s downtown while connecting a number of businesses along that route.

WisDOT will also be continuing an overnight full freeway closure of I-94 in a portion of Racine County between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., for a third night.  I-94 West (NB) will be shut down from the WIS 20 off-ramp to County K on-ramp. I-94 East (SB) will be shut down from County K to WIS 20.

The detour information is as follows:

The bridge contractor will be working on setting bridge girders for the reconstruction of the County C Bridge over I-94 which has been closed since early April. It is scheduled to reopen late fall.
