Cows, horses, chickens and... kangaroos at the Wisconsin State Fair?!

WEST ALLIS (WITI) -- It's a whole lot cheaper and more convenient than taking a trip to Australia.

Starting this year you can see exotic animals at the Wisconsin State Fair, from a place many people dream to visit.

"Exciting, we can see something that we`ve never seen before. I think whoever comes should stop in an see it," said Ed and Kelly Lopez as they attended Aussie Kingdom.

Aussie Kingdom has a variety of marsupials on display and in its educational shows from kangaroos, to wallabies, to wallaroos.

"There`s actually over 60 different kinds of marsupials in Australia. We have 7 different kinds here so it gives you a chance to see that there are all different sizes just like dogs," said Aussie Kingdom Owner Carolyn Lantz.

People crowded in to get a upclose look.

"I think they kind of look like a giant rabbit," said Alexis Devore as she looked at the kangaroos and wallabies.

In the exhibit, there are also dingoes and a variety of birds.

"We have some very colorful ones, some very beautiful ones rainbow lorikeet, lady gouldian finches, rosie bourkes, which are a pink parakeet. So very unusual colors," said Lantz.

Lizards are another addition to Aussie Kingdom.

"We have two lizards and one comes from the grasslands and forest areas and the other one comes from the desert area," said Lantz.

Adding a unique twist to an event all about food and farms.

You can catch shows at Aussie Kingdom daily at the State Fair at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m.

Otherwise, you can see the animals on display each day from 10 a.m. until 7:30 p.m.
