WAUKESHA (WITI) — Waukesha police say a 61-year-old man is in custody after a search following an alleged domestic disturbance that occurred Saturday night, August 9th.

The call came in just before 10:15 p.m. Saturday — from a multi-unit apartment building in the 1800 block of E. Main Street in Waukesha.

Police say the 61-year-old man’s wife reported there was a domestic disturbance involving her husband — with the wife reporting her husband said he would hurt himself and that he was armed.

Waukesha and Brookfield police participated in the investigation.

Police first checked the apartment building for the man — and didn’t find him there.

They then searched the nearby Hillcrest Park — where they used bearcats to navigate the rough terrain.

Eventually, police say the 61-year-old man revealed himself by walking up to squad cars positioned on E. Main Street — and surrendered peacefully.

He was taken into custody.

Police say the incident was resolved by 1:00 a.m.
