Busy Sunday for Dodge County Sheriff's deputies -- called out to THREE separate crashes!

DODGE (WITI) -- Dodge County Sheriff's deputies responded to three traffic accidents with injuries on Sunday, August 10th.

The first occurred just after 1:30 a.m.

Dodge County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a single-vehicle traffic crash on State Highway 26 and Second Street Road in the Town of Emmet.

An investigation revealed that 26-year-old Ian Ortega of Watertown was traveling northbound on Highway 26 when he lost control on a slight curve and went into a ditch near Second Street Road -- causing extensive damage to his vehicle.

Ortega, who was the sole occupant, was not at the scene of the crash when deputies arrived. He was located a short time later walking on Highway 26 -- and told deputies of his involvement in the crash. Ortega had a visible bump on his head as a result of the accident.

Further investigation showed Ortega was impaired and he was arrested for operating while intoxicated, first offense.

The second incident occurred just before 11:30 a.m. Sunday. A Dodge County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a one-vehicle rollover accident on Maiden Lane Road, near Soldner Roadd, in the Town of Lowell.

Officials say 18-year-old Tyler Wagner of Rubicon was traveling southbound on Maiden Lane Road when he entered the west side shoulder, and lost control.

An initial investigation showed the vehicle then rolled over onto its roof after entering the ditch.

All occupants of the vehicle (three people in total) were wearing seat belts. One of the three occupants was reported to have a small laceration on his arm.

Officials say speed was likely a factor.

Wagner was cited for failure to have control of his vehicle.

At approximately 1:07 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a 911 call reporting a traffic accident with injuries on County Road P near the intersection with Harding Road in the Town of Ashippun.

Sheriff's officials say a 73-year-old Oconomowoc woman was traveling south on County Road P when she lost control, crossed the center line and traveled into the northbound lane of traffic -- colliding with vehicle driven by a 53-year-old woman from Neosho.

Both drivers sustained non life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.

This incident remains under investigation.
