The robbery occurred just before 6 p.m. south of Capitol Drive. Police say 37-year-old Shorewood man was riding his bike on the path when he was confronted by the suspects. The group pulled the man off his bike, beat him and took his bicycle and back pack.

The four suspects were arrested after climbing a fence and walking through a back yard on the 3700 block of N. Morris Blvd. An 18 year-old man was transported to the Milwaukee County Jail.

Three juveniles, ages 16, 14, and 12 were referred to Milwaukee County Children’s Court.

The victim received his property back and was not in need of medical attention.

While the incidents like this along the bike trail are rare, police always stress vigilance and awareness. Don’t ever think this can’t happen to you or someone you know.

Ok, what was the biker supposed to do then? Be armed and shoot the suspects?

Yes. If a group of people (young, old, black, white, asian, latino, swedish, martian) approached me aggressively, then started trying to beat me up and rob me, I would feel justified defending myself.

This is sad. This is located across the street from my house and I walk this path around that time of day ALOT. Mind you, im never alone but you better bet i’ll be armed with something to defend myself from now on.

This is some truly awful reporting. I look forward to every car crash headline, every robbery, every obituary that stresses “Don’t ever think this can’t happen to you.”

Big difference. Car accidents happen every day, everywhere. A person getting attacked on the Oak Leaf trail is a rare occurrence.

Did the police actually say “don’t think this can’t happen to you”? The article doesn’t actually quote anyone, which makes the provocative headline seem inaccurate.

Whether they are blk or white, you have to watch your surroundings at all times. They are out there. I took a free conceal and carry class. And got my permit. You bet your a– that my baby is with me at all times. I am so sorry this happened . I walk this trail sometimes and you never know. It is not safe any where no more.. You just have to be safe for you and yours..

Dont worry they will soon graduate to armed robbery. Than shoot someone. But they were good kids. Good kids rob people. I missed out on this when i was young, i guess.

Way to assume a troubled youth has no hope of improving.

Maybe they all deserve concentration camps on the first offence, eh?

You actually make it appear really easy together with your presentation but I in finding this topic to be really
one thing which I feel I’d never understand.
It kind of feels too complicated and extremely huge for me.
I’m having a look ahead in your next post, I’ll attempt
to get the hang of it!
