At least one shot fired at officers trying to serve search warrant

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A least one shot was fired at Milwaukee police officers serving a search warrant in a neighborhood just south of 30th and Hampton Ave. on Friday afternoon, August 15th.

Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn says at least one shot was fired at they executed a "flash bang" while serving that search warrant; a warrant concerning a drug and firearm investigation. Those officers were not hit.  The officers did not return fire. The officers then entered the home and took five suspects into custody without returning fire.

"This is about a drug house that was literally terrorizing the neighborhood. They have a surveillance system. They're armed, they're willing to use deadly force. They're selling drugs, They're buying weapons," said Flynn.

Again, the officers did not return fire -- and Chief Flynn had this to say about that...

"I think it was a remarkable demonstration, not only of their courage but of their restraint, which is also one of our core values in that, despite the fact that they had every right to use deadly force in reply, they did not," said Flynn.



The ATF is assisting Milwaukee police in this investigation.
