Taking the plunge: Chip gets dirty as he previews "Dirty Girl" Mud Run

FOX6 News has learned a “Dirty Girl” Mud Run is scheduled to go on as planned in Waukesha this weekend. A few weeks back, the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau issued an alert after receiving a lot of complaints about fun runs that have been cancelled with short notice — often with no refunds being offered.

In late July, the Wisconsin BBB said it had received 47 complaints from paid participants of the “Dirty Girl” Mud Run planned for Charleston, West Virgina.

Complainants stated the run was cancelled with a four days’ notice.

In February 2014, BBB received two dozen complaints from paid participants of a mud run scheduled for Raleigh, North Carolina. Complainants reported its venue was rescheduled for a different city a few weeks before the run. Dirty Girl Mud Run responded to all of the complaints filed by the BBB Serving Wisconsin in February and provided refunds.

FOX6 News has learned Colorado-based “Human Movement” has purchased the brand from the Delafield-based LLC that started the “Dirty Girl” Mud Run.

Because the original owners spent all of the money collected from those who have already signed up for the race — there won’t be any post-race drinks offered as promised on the website set up for the run.

However, the race is on — and donations will still be made for breast cancer research — according to the Waukesha County Expo Center’s general manager.

The Wisconsin BBB says it’s not just the “Dirty Girl” Mud Run races drawing complaints.
