Teen arrested for armed robbery after being spotted at crime scene; police still searching for two suspects

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police arrested a 14-year-old Milwaukee boy on Thursday, August 14th in connection with an armed robbery. Police say the teen was taken into custody after the victim and District 3 officers spotted him near the crime scene.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the 2500 block of N. 38th Street at about 11 p.m. on August 14th.

When officers arrived, they met with the victim, a 31-year-old Milwaukee man.

The victim said he was walking in the 3500 block of W. Clarke Street a few minutes earlier when three suspects approached him. One of the suspects pointed a gun at him and demanded his cell phone.

The suspects took his belongings and fled on foot.

The victim went back to the scene of the crime with the officers and recognized the suspect with the gun standing on the sidewalk.

That suspect, a 14-year-old Milwaukee male, was identified and taken into custody.

Police are still searching for the other two suspects.

Officers are investigating the arrested teenager’s possible involvement in an armed robbery that happened earlier that day in the 2600 block of N. 35th Street.

MPD will present the current case to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.
