Up, up and stuck: Trouble again for Wells St bridge in downtown Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The City of Milwaukee's Public Works Department confirmed that the Wells Street bridge has become stuck again. The bridge became stuck sometime before 7:00 p.m Thursday, August 21st.

Sandy Rusch-Walton, from the Public Works Department, says a problem with the bridge's hydraulic system is to blame for the bridge being stuck, but she didn't know what specific component of the hydraulic system was causing the problem.

The Public Works Department has notified emergency personnel and Milwaukee County Transit about the bridge being stuck.  FOX6 News is told they have staff members working to fix the problem.

The bridge became stuck sometime before 7:00 p.m.

The goal is to get the bridge back to normal operational status. There is no timetable for when it might be fixed.
