Suburban Motors during the Milwaukee Rally: Bikes, bikers, and lots of vendors!

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- It may not be as big of a deal as the Harley-Davidson 110th anniversary celebration -- but the 2014 Milwaukee Rally is still a big draw -- bringing Harley riders to participating Harley-Davidson dealerships this Labor Day weekend.

Participating Harley-Davidson dealerships include: Milwaukee Harley-Davidson on Silver Spring, Hal's Harley-Davdison on S. Moorland Road in New Berlin, Suburban Motors on N. Main Street in Thiensville, House of Harley-Davidson on W. Layton Avenue in Milwaukee and Wisconsin Harley-Davidson on Ribbon Drive in Oconomowoc. The celebration continues through Labor Day, at 5:00 p.m.

The rumble of Harley-Davidson motorcycle motors could be heard throughout Milwaukee this holiday weekend, as the dealerships teamed up with the Harley-Davidson Museum to provide a memorable bash.

"The rally happens every year over Labor Day weekend.  When it is an anniversary year, every five years, they just do it on the same weekend," Emily VanLangen, Marketing & Events Coordinator for Suburban Motors in Thiensville.

VanLangen says business is still booming at the dealership -- one year after the big 110th anniversary celebration.

"I think Harley`s brand is really growing -- especially geared toward younger people.  They`re coming out with some new models for bikes for younger people," VanLangen said.

This weekend, the dealership was busy celebrating.

"We`ve had bands with live music.  We had an auction, bikini bike wash and some old vintage cars in," VanLangen said.

Also on hand: Lots of vendors!

Chrissy Daniels was taking a "boots on the ground" approach to selling her product: Riders Leather Seal. Made in Ozaukee County, Daniels says it's a must-have product to help protect and clean biker's belts, jackets and boots.

"You say H-D and people just warm up.  Milwaukee is just that type of town.  If I see you on the corner and you have a H-D logo on you - you`re a friend," Daniels said.

Suburban Motors says they're already gearing up for next July, when they'll be hosting a big celebration of their own.

"We`ve been family owned and operated for 39 years. Next year will be 40 years for us," VanLangen said.

Many attending the Milwaukee Rally were sporting "111th" anniversary T-shirts. They say despite this year's anniversary not being "a big one," they still wanted to celebrate and remember it.
