Police: Woman unconscious in the hospital after hit-and-run at Skateland in Waukesha

WAUKESHA (WITI) -- Waukesha police have issued an update on an incident that occurred at Skateland on Sunday night, August 31st. A woman was seriously injured in a hit-and-run, and a child was injured in an altercation prior to the hit-and-run.

On Tuesday, September 2nd, police said they have a potential suspect -- and are working to confirm this individual's participation in the incident.

Police say the woman, who was said to have suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the hit-and-run, remains unconscious in the hospital.

The incident apparently began around 11:00 p.m. Sunday -- when police say a group showed up to Skateland for an all-night skate event. They were denied entry because Skateland was at capacity.

About an hour later, police say the group returned to Skateland -- driving through the parking lot at a high rate of speed -- nearly striking a woman's vehicle.

Police say there was a confrontation and a fight ensued.

Following the fight, police say the group fled the parking lot in a vehicle at a high rate of speed. A woman was struck by the vehicle -- suffering life-threatening injuries.

Police say a child was hurt in the brawl. That child's injuries aren't believed to be life-threatening.

Police have recovered the striking vehicle.

Police say it is still early in this investigation -- which remains ongoing.
