APPROVED! Fans can soon pour their own beer at Miller Park!

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Approved! Self-serve beer machines at Miller Park have received the go-ahead from the Milwaukee Common Council. This, according to the Milwaukee Business Journal.

It isn't clear at this time when the machines will be available for fans at Miller Park.

The Milwaukee Business Journal says the Common Council approved without discussion a modification to the beer-selling permit for Delaware North, which does business at Miller Park as Milwaukee Sportservice Inc.

The modification allows the company to install DraftServ beer-vending machines near Section 125 on the Miller Park field level and near Section 222 on the loge level.

The DraftServ system will permit Miller Park patrons to buy a gift card from a Milwaukee Sportservice staffer and access a DraftServ unit that will dispense draft beer under staff supervision.

The Milwaukee Business Journal says the license modification temporarily faced opposition from a group of union employees at Miller Park. The group was concerned the beer vending machines could lead to layoffs of unionized workers who sell beer at concession stands, as well as hurting tips paid to unionized employees.
