Festival Foods thefts leave police searching for clues

MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- On Friday, September 5th around 6:45 a.m., Mount Pleasant Police officers responded to a complaint of a burglary at Festival Foods grocery store, located at 5740 Washington Ave.

The grocery store is new and is currently under construction. Officers determined that at some point during the prior night, Thursday evening after 7:30 p.m., the suspect(s) defeated 3 security locks, and a plywood door before gaining entry inside the construction site.

As a result of this burglary, several thousands of dollars worth of construction materials were taken. The items included, drills, saws, spray pumps, and copper materials. In addition, a sound system was taken from the property that was set to be used during a press conference on Friday, September 5th.

The case remains under investigation by the Mount Please Police Department.
