Not guilty: Man accused of stealing, burning Beatrice the dog will stand trial

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- 21-year-old Christopher Hanson -- accused of stealing and then burning Beatrice the dog has pleaded not guilty.

Hanson faces two felony charges: one count of theft of movable property, and one count of mistreatment of animals.

Hanson is accused of stealing a five-year-old mixed-breed dog named Beatrice from her yard on W. Wells Street in Milwaukee on March 13th and then burning her. Beatrice suffered burns over 90 percent of her body.

Beatrice underwent a cutting-edge medical procedure by Froedtert trauma specialists at the Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals on April 28th where heterograft (pigskin) was applied to Beatrice’s third-degree burns.



Beatrice was not expected to have any additional medical treatment — just proper bathing, hydro-therapy and use of ointments.

Hanson will stand trial in the case.
